Storyline – K.G.F: Chapter 1
Now, those of you who have not watched the first installment of the K.G.F series here is the storyline.
In his book El Dorado, journalist Anand Ingalagi detailed the activities at the Kolar Gold Fields from 1951 to 2018. However, his work was banned by the Indian government. A television news channel interviews him about the discovery of gold ore in 1951.
On the day of the discovery, Rocky (Yash) was born to a poor widow named Shantamma. As the demand for gold increases due to the Cold War, Suryavardhan secretly sets up a shell company to illegally mine the land.
He has five associates, including Bhargava’s son, Kamal; Andrews, who handles the transportation of the gold bars; and a politician known as Guru Pandian. Adheera (Sanjay Dutt in the sequel), his brother, heads the security detail of KGF.
Each of them, though, has their sights set on the mines. Andrews’ underboss, Shetty, is a gold smuggler in Bombay who competes against a rival smuggler, Dubai-based Inayat Khalil, who also has his sights set on the city. Rocky arrives in Bombay as a ten-year-old, driven by his dying mother’s ambition for power and fortune, and begins working for Shetty.
Years later, he becomes Shetty’s right-hand man, overseeing the delivery of African gold bars to the Bombay shore with an iron grip. Rocky quickly gains strength and power, rivalling Shetty’s own. This catches Andrews’ attention, and he promises him Bombay in exchange for assassinating Garuda (Ramachandra Raju), Suryavardhan’s eldest son, who has been anointed as the future successor of KGF after Suryavardhan had a catastrophic heart attack that incapacitated him. Rocky accepts the deal and travels to Bangalore, where a monument dedication is planned to entice Garuda away from KGF. Once there, he witnesses Garuda’s overwhelming presence, authority, and power, which causes the attempt to be thwarted before it ever begins.
Garuda’s merciless behavior comes to the fore, aided by his new leader Vanaram, when he assassinates Adheera in order to secure his place as the legitimate heir to the empire. Rocky quickly finds his way into KGF, dodging a unit of Garuda’s thugs, in the present, seeing no other option but to murder Garuda. He watches the violence to which the slaves are tortured once he arrives. Although first disinterested, he is moved by an episode involving the cold-blooded murder of a mother and son by a guard; the slaves’ children believe that Rocky would soon rise to rescue them.
Andrews, Kamal, and Desai are deceived about the incident by their spies and lose all hope of taking control of KGF. Rocky fights in a struggle with an entire squad of twenty-three guards, killing each one to save a blind slave they were going to mercilessly slaughter, in an attempt to let Desai and his men know he is still alive through their informants, Kulkarni and Garuda’s younger brother Virat. Rocky becomes a messiah in the eyes of the slaves as a result of this gesture. Rocky eventually tells them to burn the guards’ bodies in a massive flame, informing Kulkarni and Virat that he is prepared to murder Garuda as previously planned. After more conspiring events, the narrator concludes that Rocky purposefully chose KGF as the place for Garuda’s assassination, so inciting an army of slaves to aid him in assuming control of it. However, the narrator hints that this is only the beginning. The news of Garuda’s murder spreads quickly throughout the country. Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon in the sequel), the newly elected Prime Minister, learns of the turn of events as well. Adheera, who had been assumed dead, learns of Garuda’s death, as does Inayat Khalil in Dubai. The movie ends when a gunshot is heard as Vanaram tells his men to attack Rocky and his army.
